Peer Mentoring Program

The Peer Mentoring Program works in coordination with the Ontario Brain Injury Association. After thorough screening and training in how to mentor, brain injury survivors are paired with individuals who have suffered an acquired brain injury. Experiences and coping strategies are shared in a confidential one on one weekly telephone call. These volunteer mentors have proven to be a welcome resource to those who value having someone who understands their situation; someone who ‘gets’ what it is like to live with a brain injury. Mentoring is available for both brain injury survivors and their family members.

Family Support Group

The Family Support Group is an informal gathering of people who are living with someone who has had a brain injury. It meets weekly via Zoom. Participants share experiences and insights in a mutually supportive environment. The group is led by an experienced facilitator who understands the needs of the brain injury community. Members share how, in order to help their family member or friend, they have adapted to the needs and changes that take place after someone has had a brain injury.
